DIY School Supplies!

i LOVE this picture!!! this isn't the last time you're going to see it :)
Hi guys! Since most people are finishing up their first month of school, we thought we would do a school supplies DIY! Today we are going to make pencils, colored pencils, pencil cases, a ruler, and a calculator.

Supplies You Will Need:
- Toothpicks
- Colorful markers/pens
- Scissors
- Foam core board/cardboard
- Paint & paintbrush
- Fabric
- Velcro
- Hot glue gun
- Popsicle stick
- Box cutters

Step 1: Cut one pointy side off all your toothpicks. Leave the other pointy side though. Also, please have adult supervision for this step!

Step 2: Color the remaining pointy tip with a gray pen. This makes the lead part of the pencil!

Step 3: Use a pink marker or pen to color in the other end of the toothpick, making an eraser bit.

Step 4: Use an orange marker or pen to color in the body of your pencil, leaving some space at the pointy bit for the shaved off part. I tried both a highlighter and an orange pen here, but I prefered the orange pen.

Step 5 (optional): I did end up going back with a silver paint pen to add some detailing to the eraser part, like the little metal bit you see on normal pencils.

To make the colored pencils, it's pretty much the same except you only use one color to color the tip and the whole body of the pencil.

These little pencils are adorable and just the right size for the dolls, maybe a little small but that's okay. I can't wait to use them more in the future!

Step 1: Cut out a square and a rectangle from some fabric of your choice. I didn't really measure mine, just eyeballed it, but I think my rectangle was about 2/3 the length of my square, and the same width.

Step 2: You want to lay the two pieces on top of each other, right sides together, and hot glue around the outer three edges.

Step 4: Next, turn the pouch right side out. I also used my scissors to curve the edges slightly, but that was just personal preference.

Step 5: I also made this smaller green pouch, and added some lace as embellishment. You can add sequins, lace, buttons, whatever you like to your pencil case!

Step 6: Hot glue (or sew) some velcro onto the pouch flap and body so you create a closure.

And you're all set! Now you can stick your newly made pencils into your stylish new pencil case!

Step 1: Have an adult use box cutters to cut out a rectangle from foam core board for you. Box cutters can be kinda dangerous for young kids.

Step 2: Paint the rectangle in a color of your choice. I chose a bright blue!

Step 3: Finally, add some buttons and a screen onto your calculator once it's dry with a black marker. I used a paint pen, but I think a Sharpie would work as well. I looked at a real calculator to decide where I wanted my buttons to go!

Step 1: Use a box cutter (Adult supervision or have an adult do it for you!) to cut the rounded ends off of a popsicle stick

Step 2 (optional): Paint your popsicle stick to a ruler-y color. I ended up switching popsicle sticks to a yellow one I had on hand because I liked the color more.

Step 3: Draw on some lines, alternating long and short, to make the measurements on your ruler!

And that's it! Now your doll has a whole array of school supplies to use whenever she needs them. Which craft was your favorite? I liked the ruler and the pencils the most. Send us pictures if you try these crafts yourself, we'd love to see what you create!

See you next time,

Afternoon Roses (Photoshoot)

Hello all! I recently went out with Maddie Kate for a sweet little photoshoot. I didn't take a lot of pictures, but I really like the ones I did take.

The above picture is her new profile pic!

I will sometimes edit my photoshoots, but I didn't edit any of these. I like how the darker pictures seem a little mysterious.

Which photo is your favorite?

Anywho, leave feedback below, I really would appreciate it! I always like to improve my photography.

Twin Talk (Update & OOTW)

Hello friends! It is I, Jess!
And me!
And Maddie.
Today, we decided to give you all the updates in our world over here, because Jessica was busy at work today.
More like every day. She said to tell you all that she is really sorry for not posting for 3 WHOLE MONTHS, and she has been super busy (excuses), and she hopes to post more soon!
I don't know how you could forget about posting for 3 MONTHS.
Anywho, we decided to show you our outfits today!

Ooooh, me first! I'm wearing a shirt from Springfield, a bracelet that Jessica made, and a flower hair tie that came from a friend.

Jess, hold the camera straight!
I'm trying!
My leggings are from Springfield, and my boots are the Just Like You beach boots from 2005.

Very nice, Maddie. Now, my turn!
I actually really like your outfit today, Jess.
REALLY? You never like my outfits!
Yeah, but I will deny it!
Fair enough. Alrighty, so I'm wearing a Bitty Twins shirt, from the Rainbow Plaid outfit, a purple tank top that Jessica made from a Liberty Jane pattern, some white shorts that we don't know where they are from, and pink flats from Caroline's meet outfit.

So that ends the outfit portion of our post, now onto the update part!
Jessica has been planning a bunch of new posts, just hasn't had the time to take pictures.
She has been planning a lot of photoshoots, a packing post, some photostories, reviews, DIYs, sewing, and more!
Shhh, don't tell them all our secrets!
Oh, Jess, you're so silly!

We are all really excited to get back to a regular posting schedule, and crank out some more posts for you guys!
Yay! I can't wait to make more outfit of the day posts!
Maddie, you know that's not all we will be posting, right?
It could be :)
They might get a little bored of that.
Who could be bored with FASHION?
Okay, let's sign off now, before things get too crazy.
Don't forget to comment below whose outfit you liked best!

(PS: Jessica got a new doll! Can you guess who she is? We will shout out the first person to guess correctly!)

Hugs and butterflies,
Jess Maddie

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everybody! Did you guys go on an Easter egg hunt? We did, it was a lot of fun!

Chloe and Max are collecting eggs! Can you find the two colors that there is only one egg with that color, if that makes sense :P.

OOTD with Maddie Kate

Hello friends! It's Maddie Kate here, with my outfit of the day! It's still really cold here, and spring started Monday. I want to pull out more summer clothes!

Okay, so my top a t-shirt is from Springfield, and I love it a lot because of the adorable pink Eiffel Tower. It's one of my favorite shirts right now!

My shorts are from Our Generation, from an old skateboarding outfit. They are really versatile, and the white polka dots are adorable.

On the bottom, I have on some black tights from Our Generation as well, the same skateboarding outfit. They ripped a little when I put them on Chloe for the first time, and I haven't gotten around to fixing it yet.

My pink boots are from Sophia's on Amazon, and they are really really soft. I've been pairing them with everything lately.

For my hair, I just pulled it back with a little claw clip.

Okay guys, that's it for today! What did you think? Do you like these posts, would you like to see more of my OOTDs?

Also, Jessica wants me to tell you that she is sorry she isn't replying to comments right now, Blogger is glitching and not letting us reply to all your sweet comments :(.

Bye for now,
Maddie Kate

GOTY Inspired Outfits - Collab with Project AG Runway

Hi guys! Today I have something really special for you, a collab with the lovely Sophie from Project AG Runway. You should definitely check it out, it's an awesome blog!

So we are showing you some Girl of the Year inspired outfits! Without further ado, let's get started!

The first outfit I chose was Grace's Sightseeing Outfit.

This is my inspired outfit, modeled by Jess. I used old American Girl pieces, and I think it is really cute!
Skirt: Old AG store exclusive

I love this outfit, and I'm definitely going to use it again! I wanted to include the pops of red with the stripes :)

The next outfit I picked was a little older, Nicki's meet outfit.

Here is my recreation! Winter wanted to model. I thought the little cowboy hat was adorable with this.
Hat: Unknown
Shirt: Secondhand store
Boots: Springfield

"Alright Georgia- oops, I mean Jackson! Let's go riding!"

The next outfit is inspired by our newest girl of the year, Gabriela! It's her meet outfit

And here is Chloe! She feels very sporty in this outfit. I switched the colors of Gabby's top, because that's what I had the pieces for, but still think it looks good!
Headband: Made by me
Overshirt: My Life As
Jeans: Our Generation Mad About Plaid outfit
Shoes: AG sneakers that I literally just can't find on the wiki

I put her hair up in a high-ish ponytail like Gabby's, and used the belt I made inspired by Lea's yellow meet dress belt as the double headband.

Yay! I had a lot of fun writing this. Make sure to check out Sophie's post, linked here

Lots of love,
Jessica ๐Ÿ’•
